This is the best indicator we have found for crayfish hopping. This technique truly works best with the indicator. I can be difficult to detect a strike without it and the indicator helps suspend the fly.
The technique requires you to fish with a longer leader and attaching an indicator close to the fly line. The fly is presented down and across with the fly getting directly to the bottom. When the fly has reached the bottom a hopping motion is added. Deadly for deep fish. This indicator will support a heavy fly without sinking.
